One year ago today we were a week into Lockdown. I was out running, thinking about friends that were worried about their children. How would they keep them occupied? What about their learning? How could they support their well-being?
It was then that I had this little idea; I would set up a Facebook page to try and help a little. A few fun, learning ideas that could easily be replicated at home, with things that could be found around the home. And so it began!
Mrs H has far exceeded my expectations. It has gone from strength to strength and has been shared all over the world by parents, schools and teachers. I have truly enjoyed every moment; setting up the activities, talking to those who enjoy the page and also helping people out with a few ideas. I've had a shout out on the Virgin Radio Chris Evan's Breakfast Show, made the local press and in the last week won the Spirit of Corby Education Award, all because of this page. Everyone has been really wonderful!
Personally as a teacher, it's been a good reminder of what's really important and that's not the data, not Ofsted, not pleasing others, it's all about the children. This page is me; my ideas, my idea of fun and my idea of what early learning should be - discreet learning through play.
I'm not sure what this next year will bring or where I'm heading, but for now I'm enjoying the journey. I guess that while you lovely people keep sharing, liking and messaging I will keep going with Making Learning Fun with Mrs H.
Wherever you are in the world , thank you for being there, this page is for you and I hope you continue to enjoy it.
Stay safe,
Mrs H
